Sand in My Shoes
Published in Library Binding by Hyperion Press (May, 1995)
Authors: Wendy Kesselman and Ronald Himler
Average review score:

This is my 5-yr-old's favorite book about the end of summer!
This is a marvelous end-of-summer tale through the eyes of a little girl who's spent the summer at the beach with all the special joys of exploring a safe island environment unfettered by parents, time or fear. Beautifully written and illustrated.

Scandal
Published in Hardcover by Crescent Books (April, 1992)
Author: A. Summers
Average review score:

Summers speaks with authority and conviction.
This is one of those page turners that keeps you up until the late hours of the night. I just couldn't put it down. Like a spider web, I became so caught up and involved in the plot. I don't know how the author came up with such interesting twists and turns, but something tells me that a little bit of the author's life experiences has wound up between the sheets!

School's In: The History of Summer Education in American Public Schools (History of Schools and Schooling, V. 25)
Published in Paperback by Peter Lang Publishing (March, 2002)
Authors: Kenneth M. Gold, Susan F. Semel, and Alan R. Sadovnik
Average review score:

Superb
This is an excellent history of summer education in America: astute, thorough and insightful, and written with clarity and grace (something of a rarity in academic writing!). I highly recommend Gold's book to academics and educators interested in the history of education, the sociology of education, and/or educational policy; in short, I urge anyone who is interested in understanding how to best serve the educational needs of our nation's youth to buy and read this book.

Scout Camps USA - A Guide to Boy Scouts of America Summer Camps
Published in Paperback by Pfairco Publications Ltd (02 February, 2000)
Author: Paul Fairbank
Average review score:

Everyone is scouting, BUY THIS BOOK!
Wow, I am shocked. The number of camps in the United States is amazing. Don't limit your troop to the same boring set of camps, this book opens the door to many camps that our local councils would never be able to inform us about.

The Seasons of a Fisherman: A Flyfisher's Classic Evocations of Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter Fishing
Published in Hardcover by The Lyons Press (July, 1900)
Authors: Roderick Langmere Haig-Brown and Ted Leeson
Average review score:

Thanks for bringing these back!!
This collection of Haig-Brown is not necessarily his best works, but all of his books are near impossible to find and the republication of these four books is a godsend to anyone who enjoys reading about a true nature lover!

Ted Leeson's introduction provides a little background on Haig-Brown. As an expert outdoorsperson himself, he was the right choice to do the job!

Every nature lover MUST have Haig-Brown in their collections.

Secrecy Wars: National Security, Privacy and the Public's Right to Know
Published in Paperback by Brasseys, Inc. (01 September, 2002)
Authors: Philip H. Melanson and Anthony Summers
Average review score:

How the Freedom of Information Act operates
National security, privacy, and the public's right to knowledge are the major issues covered in Secrecy Wars, a view of the US government's secrecy system and how the Freedom of Information Act operates. Details from formerly classified files blend with surveys of government resistance to releasing public information to make for a thought-provoking presentation which is a highly recommended addition to American Political Science and Military Studies supplemental reading lists and academic reference collections.

Seeds of Magick: An Expose of Modern Occult Practices
Published in Paperback by Llewellyn Publications (June, 1991)
Authors: Catherine Summers and Julian Vayne
Average review score:

A good intermediate book on the occult.
This is a very good book for people who have already been introduced to some of the principles behind Magick. The authors are less concerned with 'mainstreaming' and 'sugar coating' their beliefs than many books I have read on the subject. This allowed me to gain clearer insights into their beliefs, although it sometimes made them appear slightly pompus. All-in-all I enjoyed reading Seeds of Magick, and would enjoy meeting the authors.

The Shadow Players Guide
Published in Paperback by White Wolf Publishing Inc. (February, 1997)
Authors: Tim Akers, Andrew Bates, Jackie Cassada, Trevorie Chase, Ben Chessell, Jeff Combos, Richard E. Dansky, Elizabeth Ditchburn, Beth Fischi, and Ed Huang
Average review score:

Even better than the Wraith Player's Guide
Don't be fooled by the title- although it focuses on the dark side of every Wraith, this outstanding book contains tons of important information on all sorts of subjects- from exactly what your Eidolon IS, and when it comes into play, to roleplaying romance and love.

Other important topics covered include exactly how Castigation affects your Shadow- and while your Shadow is by definition your adversary, the isn't always your enemy. There is a lot more to Psyche/Shadow interaction than just "I'm the Good Guy, he's the Bad Guy."

Every Circle of Wraiths should have this one- you owe it to yourselves... and to your Shadows. :)

Shorelands Summer Diary
Published in Hardcover by HarperCollins (November, 1985)
Author: C.F. Tunnicliffe
Average review score:

A wildlife artists classic: a must have
C.F.Tunnicliffe was one of the most significant British wildlife artists of the 20th century. Shorelands Summer Diary is a classic: a combination of outstanding watercolour and scraperboard work, coupled with excerpts from a "Summer Diary" of life and wildlife on Anglesey, North Wales. Increasingly difficult to find, "Shorelands" is considered to be one of the authors finest works: a real "must have". An excellent example of the artists work and a wonderful insight into the island of Ynys Mon, Anglesey, no Tunnicliffe collection would be complete without it.
